Part 2: Quarantine WIPs and Projects
Ok so. Yeah. I'm terrible at updating whatever this is. Sorry.
However, I do have stuff for you. Sewing stuff. It's not much, and it's honestly terrible so I won't show all of it. But you know, there's a lot to be said about throwing yourself into work aimlessly and just letting it be what it is too. I think that's where I'm headed in sewing stuff from here on out, cause I have no means of variety in my cloth selection at the moment, so whatever I make next will be simply because I have the itch to make, not because I broke down and bought $5o of fabric I didn't need or dove back into my tempting stash. Look at me I'm so passionate.
Anyway, you don't want to read about my depressive hyper-fixations anymore so I'll spare you the commentary.
What did I even cover in my last post? A lot. And very little. So I'm here to try to make up for that by doing the exact same thing. I've got several projects I really like in the works, but I am not in the same state as them (literally, not mentally. Although that too. They're frayed and I am, I hope, alert and slightly more completed) and will not be for some time, so I'll just be focusing on one specific dress I created during this long period of creative disaster before I lost physical touch with my sewing stash.
Stripey dress. Anyone who follows what I do on ye olde Instagram knows that I was gung-ho about getting that old thing done like a year ago. Well. That did not happen. Stripey dress was the result of a bedsheet from Goodwill, another bedsheet from another Goodwill, and a pair of stays that fit about as well as not made-to-measure stays can be expected to.
These stays, acquired as a gracious birthday gift, made it possible to fit my best 18th-century gown to date, as I see it. Stripey gown sucked to begin but in all honesty, finishing it wasn't terrible.
I won't bore you with descriptions since I don't write tutorials. I am a vain and lazy creature only interested in boasting my few successes so that perhaps someone will be enough of a sport to geek out with me over their completion.
And thus; photographs.
Et voila. Stripey dress. I am too tired to say more. Maybe I'll get my fabric shipped to me? Pray, because I'd love for that to happen!
There are more pictures on my Instagram, which I linked above (grey_roscoe) and I always love knowing what people think or any random suggestions or whatever so check it out if you'd like :)
